I'm not my mother's daughter. Genetically, yes, but when it comes to socially, we are very different. She's not shy at all, but I'm quite the opposite. I'm awkward, not a good conversationalist, and I say like way too much. I have come across an article about how to become a good small talker, and I think I should really work on that.

I'm not a good small talker either. That's why most of my best friends talk A LOT. We should get together. Might be awesomely awkward. :)
Wow, that's how my mom and I are! I learned small talk from being a tour guide in Alaska. It sure was nerve racking at first... but I can attest to the fact that practice really does help.
That's the same for my mom and me. She walks up to pay at any store and the next thing you know the cashier has learned her life story and I stand there going "mom, shut up!!" I can talk alot though with people I know, it's just that initial hi, I'm Ruth phase that does NOT come naturally.
