Pop Up Videos

These videos have no pop ups, but how many of you sang that title in the VH1 Pop Up Videos melody? Is that the right word? Melody? I don't like that word very much. It also reminds me of a character from Hey Dude.

These two videos go together to prove that dogs and kids are practically the same thing.

Austin is America's largest urban bat colony (according to this site). We've seen the bats from above and below the Congress Bridge in downtown Austin (below was better), but one night as we were driving home on the freeway from somewhere, we saw tons of bats. We turned around to see them from under the bridge they were flying out from, and I got a video. You can't hear them very well (or at all, maybe), and it's a real shame you can't smell them. When I felt their pee falling into my window, I was done.

Blog Boredom

I should update my blog. I guess I'll just go through my camera and show you what's been UP.

In December we (Matt) poured concrete countertops over our existing countertops. They're not quite finished, but here's a preview.

Beck was banished from the kitchen during the process. 

Matt's new toy

Beck was playing with a ziplock bag of fish rocks. They flew EVERYWHERE.

In the hinges. They're still there at this moment.

On top of all the drawers and doors.

I made Hasselback potatoes that ended up being pretty boring for how long they took. More seasonings needed for next time.

Olive doesn't like when Matt holds her up to the ceiling. She holds completely still.

Day 3

Hmmm today I am thankful for...my pups. She's such a good dog even though she drives me crazy sometimes. I think everyone with a kid needs a dog. First, the dog will always keep your floors clean, which is even more necessary when you have a kid that drops and throws food all the time. Second, they play together.

She loves to kiss Beck.

And spoon. (Ok, only when we make her.)

And get paint on her each time I paint something.

And yes, she's still wearing her Halloween costume.

A Haircut

Olive went to work with Matt about a month and a half ago, and she came back with some paint on her side. It's never coming off, so after cutting Matt's hair with electric clippers (is that what you call them?), I decided to take them to her. You can't see it very well (I don't know how to take pictures), but hopefully you can see it enough.

It was funnier when I did it.

Name change?

Remember how I said maybe the name Beck was ruined? Well on facebook I took a quiz about what my future son's name would be...

We always joke that we'll name our son Oliver and our daughter Olivia, and we already named our dog Olive. So we'd just have to call them by yelling, "Olives!" Matt says it's a sign.

Happy Birthday, Smollie

I just remembered today's Olive's 2nd birthday. We celebrated with Uncie Jerry on Sunday. As Chelsi has said, "Yes, I'm that girl." Now she wants to go watch the rest of 8 Below if Matt will let her. She really does watch it. She watches the TV anytime she sees/hears a dog on there.

Olive never used to be allowed on the couch. But because she never listens, I started to let her. (It's frustrating! I'm gonna suck at being a rule-enforcing mom.) Matt was always against letting her on, but I think he has caved now that he has someone that will let him be the little spoon.
